The Candy Van Man

The Candy Van Man

A Poem by xNumb
"

I had to. This is how it should happen

"
The midnight winds howl like a dog,
While the people of the town sleep like a log,
And nobody noticed the van in the dark;
Well young Billy came strolling by for a walk,
And his feet came to a halt,
As he saw that van in park.
"My my, what an eerie sight,"
he said as his stomach grumbled for a bite,
It was about time for his midnight snack,
But in a rush he forgot to pack,
And he was really in a bind.
He wondered if he should go home but before he made his mind,
From the corner of his eye
he saw a creepy little guy
who really wasn't tan
lean out of his van.
He said, "Dear lonely little boy, come into the dark,
Where I have my van in park,
Because I promise if you do,
I got a special piece of candy for you."
Billy rubbed his chin and he really really thought,
For the idea the man proposed just didn't seem so hot.
No, something didn't feel quite right,
But he hungered for a bite,
And the man's promise seemed sincere,
Very warm and filled with cheer.
Billy said, "Now my mother told me so very very clear,
That creepy guys like you should be the object of my fear.
But I'm going to put my trust in you in case you're the real deal,
Because if you tell the sincere truth then I just might get a meal.
But if I find out that you have lied,
And the candy isn't real,
God himself will feel sorry for your hide,
For I swear I'll get my meal."
The man laughed and said, "Now Billy, don't you fear,
Because I have all the candy in the world right inside of here.
I have gumdrops and chocolates and licorice,
Yummy truffles tangy tarts and fruity sour fish.
Now if you think I'm full of crap just slowly walk away;
But I swear to God I tell the truth so why not come and stay?"
Billy pondered it for a bit and hopped into the van
trusting the man who wasn't tan,
When suddenly the van sped away,
And the man began to say,
"You foolish little silly boy, do you realize who I am?
I'm the infamous candy van man, they call me creepy Sam!
You should have listened to your mother, little boy,
For now I shall play with you, my living breathing toy!"
At this the boy began to laugh, as he raised his little hand,
He pointed straight at creepy Sam, his smile growing grand,
And said in a voice that wasn't his, "You stupid foolish little man,
You shouldn't have lead me into this van.
You really really shouldn't have told that lie,
For now you'll certainly have to die!
Didn't I say that even if the candy wasn't real,
That I swear to God I'll get my meal?"
He finished the last sentence with a smirk as he opened his monstrous jaws wide,
Revealing an endless crevasse and bloody yellow jagged teeth inside.
Creepy Sam released a shrill scream into the night,
As Billy munched and got a bite.
