Soldier Boy

Soldier Boy

A Poem by xNote_to_selfx

Sway by sway,
Step by step,
Across the walls they dance;
Shadows of a time once before.

Pulling and tugging,
dragging the light behind them,
In a slow harmony they dance,
Shadows of a time long gone.

Innocent yet vile
They taunt him,
With liquid movements they dance,
Shadows of a memory once forgotten.

Sad and hurting,
he waits alone,
watching the shadows dance,
The broken soul of a lost soldier.

Slowly yet suddenly,
Their movement stops,
With arms outstretched they great him,
Shadows of long forgotten souls

Sway by sway,
step by step,
across the walls he dances,
the shadow of a newly lost life.

sometimes its best when people dont understand, then they can give the piece any meaning they find, and your writing grows with more purpose then you ever imagined. i like the imagery. to me it seems to be about shadows of already dead soldiers welcoming a newly dead. great poem.

well done. I understand well. Keep it up. I loved how deep the poem was and how there was an underlying story within the story.

I like the symmetry with the first and last stanza, and the progression throughout

I enjoyed the movement in this poem. It kept the shadows dancing in my head. I would like to think I get it and if it is what I think it is than nicely done. Although some would argue poems are meant to be interpreted anyway. The only technical aspect I noticed was in stanza 5 line 3 "...they great him" is it suppose to be "greet"? Other than that I think this was a decent poem. Did you know someone in the military?
