Newcomers? WHAT?!

Newcomers? WHAT?!

A Chapter by A.M.V.

At first, I had no mind to change, or not to change, or throw against the nearest wall. My mind had shorted out as soon as Ace's lips had touched mine. His mouth was warm and firm, his arms pulling me closer to him, little by little.

I opened my eyes in shock. I was here kissing the guy who nearly killed me and kidnapped me. He was ruining my first kiss. I didn't want this, heck no I didn't. This was just going on and on. My stubbornness kicked into gear and I forcibly pushed Ace away. Gracefully giving myself a face plant on the floor. Well not gracefully, more like a trip-stumble-and-fall face plant of the century.

Ace looked at me and I jumped at my feet when he took a sudden step forward.

"S-stop taking advantage of me, you jerk." I muttered. I raced to the door and flung it open and ran down the hall as fast as I could; feeling the the rush of air all around me and feeling the wing against my burning face.

Ace didn't follow, though when I glanced back I was his tall, lean figure leaning against my wall, smirking. I angrily clenched my hands into fists and ran down the stairs not afraid of falling down. Not to far away there was a closet or in my case, my resting spot. I worked up a sweat just from running down and I wasn't even half way there.

I collapsed there in tears, feeling confused and upset, excited and hopeful, homesick and appalled. I sat there, breathing fast, feeling my cheeks flame with humiliation and anger. My hands clenched and unclenched, and I wanted to disappear.

"Sky?!" A voice said behind me. I turned around automatically, getting ready to catapult out of there if it was Ace.

I almost gasped. "Garrett?" I felt his blue eyes on me and I waited for him to tease me about crying. I wiped my tears away with my shirt, trying to tough up.

He helped me stand up and stepped closer to me, till his face was only inches away from mine. Just a day ago, we were about the same size, but today my eyes were leveled with his shoulder. He shot past me in a day? Vampires are so weird...

"Humans are so weird." Garrett muttered looking away, a smile on his face. I smiled back, glad it was him with me rather than Ace.

Ace...

"What about Ace?" He asked. I gritted my teeth and said nothing. Just thinking of that jerk got me riled up in a way that made me want to decapitate him.

"Sky-" Garrett began but a unfamiliar screaming and a sound of a vase breaking traveled through the so called house. Garrett sighed and grabbed my hand without saying a word, threw me on his back and ran down the stairs. I dug my face in his shoulder to keep the wind from stinging my eyes from running so fast.

Garrett came to a sudden stop and set me down on the last step to catch my breath. I cant believe I was tired from that when I wasn't even the one running.

"You okay?" Garrett's velvet voice found my ear. I looked up smiling. "I'm fin-" My words slipped away from me. Garrett wasn't talking to me.

Almost halfway across the room, Garrett was kneeling down with an expression on his face that made my heart jump a little. But, the big picture was that he was wasn't giving me that expression...was he giving it to girl. A girl with blond hair that ran down to her shoulder, her glowing green eyes staring back at him. My stomach churned.

I shook my head in protest. No, no. I don't care! To hell with love! I got enough problems!

"Oh, sorry," Garrett said helping her up. "Sky this is Nikki, Nikki this is Sky." I looked over at her. She just stared at me for a moment, like she was afraid to say hi. Ah, the shy type huh? I looked her right in the eye, trying to figure out if i could trust her because it takes me a while to trust people...trusting Garrett doesn't count.

I gave a warm smile. "Hi."

She kept staring at me and after a while, her high voice sang. "Hello."

"Sky, Nikki is going to be your...helper, so get used to her." Garrett said, turning his head every few seconds to look at the couch. I nodded.

I gave Nikki a quizzical look. "So you got wrapped up into this too huh?" She nodded.

"Have you met Ace?" I asked. She angrily nodded. I smiled. "Good you hate him too."

"Sky, also, if you check behind the couch, Dawn, your other partner is there." He said smirking directly at the couch. So that's why he kept looking over at the couch. "I gotta go...er, do something, Sky will show you to her room, which you are all sharing." Garrett took off quickly knowing I would yell at him. I sighed, struggling to keep my irritation in check.

"Hey, you!" I yelled at the couch. "Get up, I'm in charge right now so get up!" I said flatly. Nikki nudged me and whispered in my ear. "You probably shouldn't talk to her like that, she can be pretty mean."

I scoffed. "Well, so can I." Nikki nodded, taking my word for it. "Hey get up, you lazy bum!" I heard a sigh and shifting noises. Pretty soon, a girl stood up from behind the couch. She looked about one year older than me, seventeen, she had tan skin with light brown her that ran down her back and blond bangs. Her emerald eyes, glared at me and a beauty mark was on her left cheek.

"What?" She snapped. I looked at her again. Her eyes were full of hatred. I walked up to her and Nikki followed. Dawn was a good two inches shorter than me, which made me feel better since she was older than me. Nikki was about an inch shorter than me, but I figured she'd catch up.

"Listen," I said to Nikki and Dawn. "I've been here for two days, which isn't much and believe me, I hate it here mostly because I was kidnapped by a jerk face, and I don't know what he did to you, but, we've got to stick together, or if you haven't noticed we'll be vampire food. Emphasis on vampire." I looked directly at Dawn. "And don't try to hide behind furniture. Cuz' I've tried that and Garrett found before I could even blink."

They both stared at me like I was crazy. I didn't know if I was, being kidnapped by a creature of the night can do that to a girl.

Seconds ticked by and I decided to break the silence. "Soo...lets go up stairs and learn a little about each other before we actually work with each other."

"Fine but you have to answer EVERY question we ask." Dawn said.

"Deal."
