Darkness, a Noun - Part OneA Poem by Jaimee
DARKNESS
1. An absence or deficiency of light.
Sophia held herself in
The darkness, unable to see
The hidden dangers within the
Shadows.
2. A lack of knowledge or enlightenment.
Soon she fell into slumber, though
Convinced by the silence there was no
Danger.
Alas, unawares is she
Of the battle being waged outside.
Strange, though-
The girl knows nothing of this perilous
Fight,
Though it is her life
That is at stake.
Fear not for her,
On her side there is a guardian.
An Angel, Tristan, who protects her from
Evil,
And shields her
From the darkness,
That on a daily basis threatens to overtake her.
A cruel sort of
Monster
the Angel quarrels with
But soon he finds solace
In his certain victory over the demon.
He returns to his post,
Invisible at her bedside,
And reminisces of the time
When the sleeping beauty
Was out of harms way.
And not a victim of
Darkness.
