Prequel 4: Forgotten History

Prequel 4: Forgotten History

A Chapter by Doogie

Darkness
Is all I see
Beneath my eyelids
As I try to sleep
This old house
Shaken with despair
Maybe it will take my soul
Maybe I'll wake up dead
Remembering past times
When I felt alive
Back when I was innocent
Before all the pain and crying
A childhood left in darkness
Full of tragedy
All those creepy nights
Awaking to mystery
Tonight is a special night
100 days of sobriety
So I bought this haunted home
The place where I once grew up
Where as I kid I used to roam
Before my dad finally had enough
Because without our mom
Life had gotten to tough
If it's him I hope I'm a good host
My spiral into the paranormal
Was more intense than most
The creaks and noises
Make it hard to dream
But I feel an old sensation
From deep in my history
The scar on my head
Tingles with despair
The hair on my arms
Raise into the air
Will I remember this in the morning
Would anyone even care
The hum sounds familiar
It grows louder in my ear
Reminds me of my nightmares
From my childhood years
Back when I was innocent
Before that camping trip
That started the downward spiral
That led into the darkness
Years of alcohol and drug abuse
Just trying to cope
Eventually lost both parents
I never felt so alone
My older brother left to travel
And search for his own place
I was stuck here
It left me feeling crazy
I almost ended it all
Until she unknowingly saved me
I don't know how she feels
But she became my priority
She gave me a reason to live
So I promised her the world
If I survive this night
Maybe I'll propose to her
For a second I was able
To forget about the horror
Till I tried to move my head
It felt stuck to the bed
I tried to move my arm
As well my hand
Nothing would move
Maybe I was already dead
Images from my past
Shoot through my brain
I remember a cold snowy night
Is this all a dream
Oh my God that's not an owl
What are they?
This moment of terror
Snaps me back to reality
I hear my door handle unlatch
Then it it slowly opens
The creak of it pierces
Through the sound of the hum
My heart starts racing
As fear grips at me
I can feel the sensation
Of being watched
By big dark eyes
Into the darkness of the night
Evil monsters lurking
Slowly coming towards me
I struggle to move
But I'm losing the battle
I wonder if they know
It doesn't even matter
I feel like I'm surrounded
My heart races and is pounding
I hear the click of a switch
Then the room fills with light
As I open my eyes
I see them standing there
Like out of a childhood nightmare
They look up at the room light
Then a loud slam
As the door shuts tight
They look back
Maybe they are in a fright
I take this opportunity
To escape with my life
I pop up quick
And dash to the door
I throw it open
And run into the hall
I head to the stairs
And look down in despair
As figures in the dark
Slowly head up here
I hear a door open
It's the way up to the attic
I have no way down
So I go horror movie dramatic
I rush to the place
That I shouldn't go
But I feel a calling
Like coming home
I move some boxes
So I can hide
Then I see a message
From a past time
I grab something sharp
So that I could remember
My alarm goes off
It awakes me from my slumber
I moan as I open my eyes
Laying in bed
I feel a tingling on my thigh
My leg feels sore
I wonder why
I pull my blanket off
And to my surprise
My inner leg
Is covered in blood
I go to the bathroom
And clear it off
The word attic
Carved into it raw
I hear the attic door
Slowly creak and open
As if the house knows
That I'm up to something
I creep up the stairs
And look around
I see what looks like
Boxes newly pushed
Due to the movement of the dust
I look around
And almost scream
Carved into a wooden beam
Is "HELP ME!
They are coming
Remember please
