Prequel 2: The BridgeA Chapter by Doogie
In a world I feel alone
The only hell I call my own I know things always come undone But in the end I just want to have fun So to clear my mind off stress I take a drive to the bridge A place of legend and myth The home of a crying kid A child lost within time Who committed no crime But was doomed to die That would spark the infamous legend The legend of the crybaby bridge I arrive just on time Before the hour of the cry It was cold and very silent And the air felt strongly stagnant As I walked along the bridge The water below was dark But yet inviting I reached the center And then pause And my mind started to race With negative thoughts As I stared into the abyss A sorrow crept upon me I felt sadder than I ever felt Pondering what life now meant Alone upon this bridge Thinking about things like death And the mistakes in my life My mind heavy with sadness My heart weak from emptiness Something was very wrong I never felt so alone The water below Was calling me home I took in a deep breath And stared into the sky The stars shine bright above As the hair on my arms Raised into the night Then as the hour struck twelve A sound came into my ears It started off low and muffled Until it grew louder and clear It was the whimpering and crying Of a child in fear I stood there frozen From fear and the unknown I suddenly didn't feel Anymore alone The sorrow I felt was lifted The emptiness was gone Things could always Be worse I thought While listening To a crying dead soul I felt alive yet terrified As the cry rattled my bones The sound eventually faded Into the cold night sky And then again I was alone I felt afraid But with a new appreciation Of the beautifulness of life I stood there for an extra minute I was glad I didn't take my own life I questioned what just happened Could it be a prank Or a real ghostly aberration I walked back over to my car Then the horror really struck Upon my window and my bumper Lied small hand And fingerprints © 2021 Doogie |
