A Farewell to FriendsA Poem by Aries<> Friendship is something very important to me, and losing friends is painfully difficult. I've learned that friendship can be both the most beautiful kind of love and the worst kind of heartbreak.Graced with true love and friendship I shouldn't be afflicted like this; Relations strained make for hardship and now I'm trapped in a hit-and-miss tug of war Between old smiles and new, the former being lost in the sands of time My heart being torn in two...
Should I let them go? "They were her friends, anyway." But they had become mine, and what about her...? "Now they've all made you to be the prey." I suppose I see, but can I feel? Letting go of what seemed real She stole them back, like she did the drawings we made in line and the notes with words we now lack, as if they were her friends and not mine But did we not all shine, Bri? In "the group" as we'd call it, I felt so loved and free It's a deep heart-hurt that's outlasted the end; but I love again, and I'm so blessed that the few old smiles that remain have made the tissue mend as I bid a sad farewell to the unfaithful rest. © 2010 AriesFeatured Review
