Aspire to Ascension

To live in the planet's dance around an aging flame

 is to at best only hope for ample shade

It's still too warm for comfort as it's always been

 but never pleased until frost has made

its way again across the ocean's seams

And hope should find another place safely kept

not where fallen leaves may gather

and the colours of remorse have crept 

But instead, perhaps, by a stony creek

a fallen tree on a rugged peak

the view offering a new perspective

a glimpse of chance

that I may survive this planet's dance
