Iron ExpectationsA Poem by Wynter PageThis heart will escape the iron expectationsThis heart beating inside this chest. In and out.
In and out.
Thin and hollow.
So many mistakes that can't be talked about, so many reasons that can't be figured out.
Give it just a little bit of love, it'll take it just like a drug. Swallowed inside an addiction because it's comfortable.
Paint away the past with the hope of a future. Maybe write another impossible story.
Maybe climb just a little higher so the impact is just that much harder from jumping off the edge.
Pages flying by, cutting into the veins, spilling out the truth, until the problem is drained dry. Finally found a place where insanity makes sense.
Rather be broken and defeated instead of taking a risk. Chance has abandoned the heart before, just don't want to hurt anymore. So the heart won't even try to breathe again.
The heart will escape the iron expectations. No more failure, no more frustration. © 2014 Wynter PageReviews
