Puddle

Puddle

A Poem by Wyatt

Looking in the water,

I see a new face

It’s one I haven’t seen in

Quite a while

It is me, yet not

Instead of curls,

My hair is straight over my eyes

Instead of usual brown

It is now jet black

Instead of hazel eyes

They are a dark green

Like the deep woods in a forest

All the leaves on a tree

Instead of a friendly grin

There is now the smirk of an imp

With sharp, upturned lips

Instead of chubby cheeks,

There are now two sunken craters

The scars on my face show the battles

The anger in my eyes show the pain

Then a ripple

Closed is the window to my soul

Now I see my normal face

The one I show the world

I turn from the water

That showed me what I was

I turn and walk

beat down, but not beat

I know that I will last

I will not be defeated!!!!!!!!
