The Couple

They had been together for a season

The leaves had changed from green to brown

The leaves had fallen to the ground

The leaves had been taken and dumped

The ground had been covered with feet of snow

 

It seemed like it would last forever

But then, something happened

They were ripped asunder

Something in Him broke

Something took root

 

He told no one why it happened

He told no one what

He started not to talk to her

He started to be sad,

 When he had been happy

 

He didn’t see the pain it caused her

Cause he couldn’t see why

He tried to shield her from it

The pain that he felt inside

But instead he only made her cry

 

He made her start to cry

To die from the inside out

He never saw it, never at all

She would hide it and not tell

She let herself die, and turn into a shell
