Perceived Beauty

Perceived Beauty

A Poem by Willard Wells
"

Poverty brings a different view

"

The sea recedes for a few hours.

Local families pick rocks washed close to shallow shores.

Cleaning their bounty before filling 50-kilo bags,

to sell for food to fill their stomachs this day.

Tomorrow is another day by the beautiful seashore.

Some eat, some starve by their own choice, others starve without having a choice. I am one of those.

The sea gives us much, food, beauty, inspiration even, but what this piece says most to me is about the people and how they perceive it. Some frolic, some watch, some earn their crust by it, and some see the story behind those people, like you in these words. Great piece.

You're welcome.
