Perhaps a better topic for Tanka as it portrays nature, the only thing I would caution you about is the reuse of nouns (eagle and water) perhaps a metaphoric description instead. This is one of those things that you learn as you write.
It's a good description and I always like the pics you find to illustrate your poems and moods.

Most of the pictures up until now are pictures I took. At this time, my pictures of Mendenhall are not in a digital format. I do plan to buy digital process unit for my prints. You will see I did not say Tanka. I like the form for layout when I need more than the Senryu and Haiku. I am outside my element but willing to push on for more. Fun fun fun.

Lol, not calling it Tanka doesn't mean it's not one...Lol. However, I get your meaning. Sometimes it's not meant to be true to the form.
And just an added bit on Tanka: it does not have to be 5-7-5-7-7 as long as the lines follow the short-long-short-long-long pattern. Some are now 3-5-3-5-5 Or even uneven lines. I'm still a traditionalist and like the 5-7 format.
