Dark Night Escape

Escape depression

Running into the night,

searching for the light,

that will bring me

out of the dark,

into the light of day.

Escaping the demons

lurking quite near.

Watching my moves,

thoughts then deeds.

Keeping watch in the dark

Moving left then right

running through the night,

searching to escape.

As the little fuckers

get in my face.

As they get closer

in an attempt

to take my light

I close the door on this night,

so I am sure I stay within the light.

I like this dark insight into light..but the "fuckers" part implies hate....subjectively, that is a good and bad part of this poem, with the exception of the revised

Well I think to say hate was implied is a mistake as I can promise it is no mistake their hated. Subjectively or not. the only"like" is my maintaining control and maintaining my light.

As you read my work, you will find I may go in the dark, but the demons are in the end under my control and I more keep them, than they keep me. their my playmates in the dark.

I like the touch of humour you gave to this. The title of this drew me. I just started reading the famous 'Dark Night of the Soul' by San Juan de la Cruz'. Believe me...not a good idea to do a few days before Christmas if you want to feel more cheerful! Still, the subject of Depression is an important one. I know for myself, it isn't something I am in all the time. I go in and out of it through the years. Some I can dispel by looking at my resentments. (Usually I'm imploding) but there is always an underlying sadness that is deep rooted. Me and it, are old friends now. Thanks for your take on it.

I am also not a permanent resident of the dark, but far more familiar than I like and yet happy in knowing I have more control over mine than those lost in the dark.

I like this one... definitely has a dark tint to it :) It's not easy to escape the darkness when the world seems to be covered in it... we must find our own light :) Much easier said than done... good work buddy!

Thank you for taking time to visit my hole in the world this day. I reality this was written in a perfectly normal state of mind. Well my normal state of mind. Not my altered writing state i end up in now and then. I guess my memories of the darkness are strong. Kind of like "The Force". haha

Well a fair amount of my writes of the dark comes from there. I have worked in crisis intervention and suicide (self murder) prevention and have talked and worked with many within the dark.

I generally just brush up against the dark. Only on rare occasions do I hang on the dark side of the blade.

Escaping the darkness is a struggle lots of us struggle with, but you cant go wrong with staying in the light. They torment you in darkness, so blind them in light, see how the little funkers like their own medicine :)
