December Rose

December Rose

A Poem by Willard Wells
"

Loneliness

"

Winter arrives

as the green of summer turns,

darkness creeps into our minds.

As we struggle to survive

another dark season.

Cold all around

as nature fights

itself in winter,

a single December rose.

Standing solitary.

Alone on bare branches,

withstanding the cold,

going against mother nature

and her regulation.

It may not be perfect

as roses go,

but standing alone against the cold

as the only rose,

made it the most beautiful.

Made me think of our Roses in nature as well as a metaphor you intended like a shining star!!

Welcome friend :)
Very beautiful. Just that "one rose" that is left could stand for many things. Well written, very good job !

The defiant rose makes a stand :) You have applauded her beautifully, Willard. Seems the plants here in Ohio are a bit confused. It has been warm as spring and some of the trees started to bud. Strange weather...

a lovely thought that nature didn't take everything, but left a single beautiful rose. Could imagine a beautiful soul that way too, standing alone, braving the world. What a nice poem, it falls on me softly Willard.
