Forest Nymph

Forest Nymph

A Poem by Willard Wells
"

Just a Dream

"

In the dark of night

my mind turned on bright,

with thoughts of you

my forest nymph.

Slender and tall,

with wings transparent

and light.

Lifting you up to explore the night.

Flitting here and flitting there

your flight so fast

so no one sees,

for my eyes only.

Coming to rest after long night,

reposed on my bed

me holding your head.

As I give gentle kisses to my forest nymph.

If you're going to rhyme, then rhyme. And if you do, you need to work on prosody. An occasional rhyme, here and there, without pattern or attention paid to cadence, only detracts.

It would pay to read the excerpt from Stephen Fry's, The Ode Less Traveled, for his observations on language and poetry.

I am very glad you enjoyed it. Thanks,
This is such a sweet write. The last stanza made me imagine a father coming home from work giving his wife a good night kiss.

An enchanting love story of the forest Willard. I wish we did have fairies and the like in our forests maybe then we would not destroy them.!

When I was a young man I used to spend most of my free time exploring nature alone... I imagined "she" was always with me.

These thoughts enchant magic and light from the atmosphere. It is dream fabric coming to life, and how gentle and beautiful it feels to the touch. So well done my friend.

thank you and I just added the flute as mentioned below. I appreciate your kind words.
Absolutely dream like. Your poem touches deep these fantasies of fairies and nymphs frolicking once the sun sets. I hear a pan flute playing in the background as I read.
