Pearl Harbor December 7th, 1941

A Poem by Willard Wells
"

Honor the living and Honor the dead (Never Forget)

"

These are the facts and it

happened just this way, on this

date December 7th, 1941.

Coming in at early sun by surprise

with sleep still in our eyes.

Bombs start dropping as we run.

Looking for shelter to avoid

the rain of bombs.

Hangers, houses, planes,

and ships in the number.

The world did change

on this day

that they bombed

Pearl Harbor.

War has gone on forever, but this was the action that I feel going forward has changed the world the most as we head for another World War.

The insanity of it all! Honestly it has never made any sense to me.
Good to remember. Have we learned anything? I wonder.

Will war be inevitable, I hope not, but it really takes strong leaders to stop it. We have developed to a place where the use of our weapons could cause global devastation and extinction. What good is a war that no one survives. We're all losers. But I pray every day that we will come to a place of peace...there is always room for hope.

Sadly, nations have not learned anything from the bitter loss of lives or properties. Some countries still greedy, still wanting what others have but not willing to work for it. A lifetime is so short, why not try to make it as sweet as possible...love your neighbor as yourself. Valentine

It definitely is a day that will never be forgotten. Pearl Harbor and 9/11 are two days in our history that will serve as a constant reminder that we are never truly safe. When we think we are safe there are enemies planning behind our backs. I've had the privilege of going to Pearl Harbor twice and it is definitely a humbling experience. To think of the lives lost and how that kick started America in joining the war... it's a somber reminder. Nice write my friend :)

Yes, it changed the world. Such aggression wasn't likely to lead to anything good, and well, it didn't. Mushroom clouds--may we never see them again.
