Soldiers Journey

Veterans Day 2015

looking skyward now

searching the heavens on high

stars shining brightly

shadows of dark clouds

blocking the light of dark night

leaving me searching

on this dreary night

as the cold cuts deep inside

a beacon of light

shines in front of me

moving faster to the light

a candle on the sill

to guide the way home

a beacon of light for a soldier

returning from war

Will, It is a very nice poem that you have written! It pleased me to read it and the last thing on my mind when I went to war was ever coming home. Everything, after the fall season of 1969, I had never given given any serious too other than thinking that I would still be somewhere in S.E. Asia, maybe, New Zealand's South Island!
