Good Life

Good Life

A Poem by Willard Wells
"

How you view life

"

As age comes to me daily

just like it does for us all,

I consider my life

and what does it mean.

It can mean many things,

as I imagine what would

have been and what has been,

which means nothing in the big scheme of things.

Regrets you can have,

but nothing will change,

other than dragging a chain,

that gets heavy with age.

So the past is just that

and I will remember it

for what it was

and not what it might have been.

The here and now is

a happy place

with love of life

and of fellow man.

A smile each day,

good love in my life,

with a hug good night,

and we sleep.

Good Night!!

Drawn to this by the title. Great truths - often to scribe means reflecting on life experiences... Yet (personally) I find the prose often 'pops' onto the page in the moment of the Now. Enjoyed reading - thank you.

How true. No use hanging on to what might have been. Thank God for the here and now. Valentine

Wise words, Willard. Indeed, we can't change the past anymore, but we have to work on today. Well done. :) Rudi

An optimistic piece written on a different angle on life. The ending was a little unexpected, but positive and nice. Well written,

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.. It is appreciated.
Your poem is an eye opener for some, maybe even me, I have a life to let go off...not to forget, not to regret...just to be set free of! Live the rest of my time, with this little light of mine, like I have never really had a life of any kind before, unless and until it should come knocking on my door, and then just handle it accordingly and then get back to the new life one again.
