Refugees

Refugees

A Poem by Willard Wells
"

Escaping War

"

Refugees

They run from the bombs,

avoiding invading soldiers,

as they run through fields.

Taking with them

all they can carry in the escape,

to find a home and safe place.

Stopped at borders

begging for help

yet often rejected.

We hear the reasons

and are given excuses

of why there is no help.

Have they not looked into the eyes of the child.

What is happening now in Europe happened to my love when she escaped Vietnam into China. Today's refugees bring great pain to my heart.

Such thoughts impress upon my mind daily as I look into the media and see the raw pain and destruction that others must contend with. The human family is hurting...Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for be one of the humans that understands.
The real condemnation of mankind is that such a word as refugee even exists in language.

That last line cuts to the heart.

This is a refreshing poem because not many people have written about this topic. Its very insightful. hopefully these issues get resolved sooner rather than later.

I cant imagine placing myself in their shoes, how awful it must be to flee your own country into the unknown of another. Nicely said Willard.

This is not a new problem. President Clinton send me to Africa three times for the refugees in Africa in the nineties. My unit brought food and water, a medical team. War and starvation. Create homeless and displaced people. Cure is simple. Quit spending 1.2 trillion on war and change the world by the kindness of water, food and medical help. Kindness can break down separation and old hate. A powerful poem my friend. The cure is simple. Send food, water and medicine. Not soldiers and guns. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
