A Poem by Willard Wells
"

"
now the adventure moves on.

A head bang'in crash, as my cranium came first
as the rear glass met my face at an extremely ugly pace.

Now left scarred, broken with damaged mouth,
had to step back and evaluate my life.

I healed very nicely with a bit of glass floating about
with scar tissued lip.

Which brings us to the addiction, I treat pain,
which may posse me.

It can be a cloud to float on or a deep dark hole,
when you look up it is black, the place as I write is
my favorite place, wallowing on the edge of space.

Between darkness and light, trying not to get cut,
as I slide along the edge of the blade.

Awesome write Willard. What I found kind of ironic is the title is Addiction and the advertisement to the right of the poem is Duffy's Napa Valley Rehab... classic stuff! I love the wording you use... really creates that darkness to the thoughts. Nice work :)

Will, when all the said has been said and all the done has been done, I would be extremely surprised if i were to find that the man that I know to be my friend is not that same profound, caring man, that has made such a warm loving impression on this heart, There is no addict in you.

It can be so easy to slip from controlled use to addiction, and it's hard to see that line. But it is a knife edge if you fall.

Thank you for taking time to read and comment.
Much darker than your usual writing. But that isn't necessarily bad. It takes your poetry to a new level.
