No Holiday for Death

No Holiday for Death

A Poem by Willard Wells
"

''

"

anger and some hate,

colors and names not explained

then shootings and death

your colors are wrong

it's their street you're on tonight

then death comes easy

bullets and bombs yes

with no name inscribed take life

that die needlessly

parents and children

holding each other tightly

hiding together

death does come easy

and with very little sound

that can't be explained.

no more struggling

family embraces now

they feel no more pain

Death does not take any days off, strong words you had compiled
Here Will, eye opening, reality of today's life, very cool the way you

Thanks for the visit Richard and your comments. It's a dangerous world out there.
I agree.
"death does come easy
and with very little sound
that can't be explained."
Old great poem.
Like a whisper,
like a whisper,
like a whisper.
not with a bang.
Human race will become extinct."
Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry my friend.

You are welcome Willard.
this is so relevant to the mass shootings that happen today...they are so arbitrary and random ---the world seems so unsafe even in the safest places.

Thank you so much.
There is so much truth here, parents and children hiding under a masquerade, well spoken

Sadly enough, this is the world we're living in, Willard. Well done. :) Rudi

This was done on my dark writing day. Thanks for the time and review.
This is a good example of choka, which is written in pattern of five and seven. Here you've joined senryu strophes to create this picture on senseless death. I like it. The family could be in a war torn cou.try, or in an inner city space whete gang initiation can be random drive-bys. This form works well for you my friend.

It's a crazy truth in this world we live in. I thought we had it bad in Cali but man look at the violence in Chicago that doesn't get shown like the violence in the Mideast and places like that... 238 so far this year and that's just murders. Crazy world and you portrayed that perfectly in your words :)
