Shadow Passing

Shadow Passing

A Poem by Willard Wells
"

Past life

"

Can you dry away the tears.

They are not planned,

But just appear.

A thought of the past,

Memory so vivid,

Suddenly emotions come forth.

Standing on a street corner,

Taking in the sites;

A shadow seems to cross your path.

Orifice sensations light you up.

Memories again renew your past.

You search around with your eyes.

Hoping to match senses again,

With memory of the past.

To feel that rush you had that did not last.

As you look left,

And then to the right, up ahead.

There's nothing in-sight.

But the memory is there though lost.

And will lay in wait in the dark.

So your heart can race again.

When again the shadow passes.

I like the flash from the past Will! The Shadow either shades that area or was just passing through and latched on to you and was unprepared for you. Shadows are my bailiwick and I do not even know all that much about them. But, I do believe in energy that is out there among us and I believe that it probably stays fairly close to home.

I only know too well how this works. Sometimes the memories seem to have a mind of their own and appear when you least expect it. A very beautiful write and wonderfully penned.

Thank you so much. I am so happy you enjoyed my work. Your time and review are greatly appreciated.
Memories seem to slap a person in the face at the most unexpected times and when they do tears sneak up with them. Yes, they can bring back the emotions we felt and we can remember every detail. It is spooky to a degree. The imagery you employ is wonderful. Lydi**

Memories can be like shadows, passing before us, sneaking up on us when least expected. I was drawn in by the melancholy tone of your words and can feel the emotion in this piece. Great writing and a pleasure to read.

Thank you Jewel. Your kind words are greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking time to visit.
As I have far more days behind me than in front, those shadows sometimes look like a crowd. You describe the phenomena very well.
