Home for the Holidays

Home for the Holidays

A Poem by Willard Wells
"

For lack of a better term Prose

"

“Over the River and through the Woods to grandma's house we go”.

Have you checked on grandma lately??

Grandma don't live over no river

And not through the woods,

NO.

She's in Florida

Left no forwarding address.

For birthdays and Christmas

She sends cards and money

That say from anonymous.

The only time we hear from her

Is if there's a Madonna concert

You know their about that same age

Menopause was left behind

And then replaced

Jazzercise, yoga, spinning

Running and last but not least

That personal trainer

To get her in shape

And she hopes

She might even get a date

Damn, I knew there was something not right when they told me she moved too far away to visit. Oh well, enjoy it granny, you deserve it. But I do hope you are not going out dressed like that lady :)
Nice one Willard.

thank you for visiting my goofy words and thoughts. Merry Christmas
Lol, my grandma what big changes you have made. I enjoyed the humor served up in this Christmas oriented poem. Grandma's getting into shape could spell worries for grandpa's that have to look over their shoulder.

You are welcome Willard.
Yep and she might just be pushing 40. Not the grandmothers I grew up with and not the kind I want to be.

Things aren't the way they used to be. Grandma doesn't sit home baking cookies and knitting. Actually, I bake a lot of cookies, and I crochet afghans. It's unfortunate I'm not a grandmother.

Florida is fine, no forwarding address isn't. Interesting take on modern times which I both enjoyed and reflected on.

'They're' about the same age is correct but this is a very deep poem never-the-less with a passion and pathos.
