Warm Honey

Warm Honey

A Poem by Willard Wells
"

Morning Visit To Coffee Shop

"

Love is like warm honey

Slowly rolling

Off the end of your tongue

When you first

Feel your pulse

Your heart

Then the quickening

Of your breath

Smelling the scent

As it rises

You inhale

Feeling more excitement

Your heart is racing

Now she is close

Passing by

The brush of her

Arm against your thigh

 as she passes

You grasp the table

your espresso too

Before you fall down

You'll be back tomorrow

At the same time

another scent or a touch

Which is a lovely way to start your day

Oh yes, the word tongue makes it all the more seductive and sensual. A brief encounter in a coffee shop.....I have written about them in the past. They can spark so many fantasies. The build up of passion is superb. I liked this one. Lydi**

Thank you Lydia, that is exactly why I changed it to tongue. My thought was always the same but litt.. read more
Ok I loved the tenor of this one very much. I disagree with your change from spoon to tongue as the latter gives the impression of a drooling moron with little social etiquette and no chance of getting the girl. Otherwise is is a well observed piece depicting the passing of a stranger who takes your attention. If I ever smell Opium perfume I am smitten, even on a horse!

'Your tongue" works very well for me Willard. (hmm doesnt sound right now that I read it back) ...
The scene here is very well painted in words and I almost want to reach out as she passes and put in a good word for you but some fantasies are better off left as just that.
Someone can really make our day with a single smile or touch.
Nice one.
