Pity Party

Pity Party

A Poem by Willard Wells

Pain like most of life is relative

Everyone's normal is

A moving target

From the time of small youth

I've had pain

As a partner in life

I was poked and pinched

Electrified and MRI's

And a couple of other letter groups

Well after it was

All over

I waited for some relief

What causes the pain

And what can we do

To get me relief

Then the word came down

Report said fine

I have pain

Watch it now

Well many years later

And on my own time

All that pain

Has come down to this

A conversation topic

Or a goofy poem

As I sit reading, typing

And medicating

Hoping the pain subsides.

It's funny in a sick sort of way.

it's strange that for all our advances in medicine, we cannot always find where the pain is centered and where it comes from. Out only options for treatment are either OTCs or something so strong that you go into a drunken haze.
