Winter Flight

Winter Flight

A Poem by Willard Wells
"

Fun

"

Standing at the Edge

Looking down

Earth below

Rocky peaks

Sparse trees

Silence of the snow

Blue sky above

Water dark blue below

Clouds drifting by

Turning to face the sun

Gliding down

Over the rise

Faster now

As I go

Feeling the wind

Carving a turn

Powder in flight

Direction is changed

Through the trees

I fly

As I take flight on a rise

Feeling as free

As a bird

And light as one too

Breathing in cool air

Cheeks all flush

From cold winters stare

My flight is now done

But the runway awaits

Another flight

This does't sound imporv to me, but solid poetry. Wonderful images as you come down the mountain...I've never skied, but this is how it should be...
