Texas

Texas

A Poem by Willard Wells
"

A trip to Texas with heat

"

I always heard of Texas

A Damn big State and lots of Steaks

I was elected to go without saying yes

Guess that's cause they pay me and they say yes

I was excited to go to see a new place

And I got to take flight to this new place

I was prepared for the heat

But had no idea about real heat

I found after two days I was bored

And it would be a week of being bored

I went to the meeting but looked for an escape

But the doors were locked and there was no escape

I waited each night for a drop in the heat

But 10 o'clock 90 is too much heat

I did find an escape to avoid both boredom and heat

Boarding a tram to circle the port was suppose to relieve boredom and heat

I escaped after a week

And now I am just really weak

OK I have stepped outside of my comfort zone if I had one and have expanded my word content. This was really just a quick write inspired by another writer from Texas and we all know who we are. Just recalling a trip to Texas for work seminar. Just for fun.

You must have been here during the summer, July? What is the picture of? I do not recognize it, but as you say, this is a Damn big state with lots of baking relics, well unless you are in Houston or Corpus, and then we just steam everything. That's where I am, the Golden Crescent Steam Bath..LOL I guess the humidity is great for the skin, the 110 degrees...NOT! As you note from my picture, I have the sense to stay out of the summer sun. Lobster would be the shade. I know people who have moved from Phoenix and cry uncle in our area, because it's not the heat, its the humidity and the sweat that rolls off after two minutes outside.
All of those songs about pretty women in Texas, that's because God was kind enough to realize that there is no make-up in the world that would ever stay put, so he took mercy on us...LOL

Texas is very hot. I was station for almost six years at Fort Hood, Texas. One year. 110 degrees for 90 days. Couldn't go outside in the day. Your poem true and honest. I live in Michigan. The four seasons are okay after the heat. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Quiet folks are dangerous. Better to say what must be said.
