Still Intrigued

She was modest and shy.

First time I met her,

She caught my eye.

Years later together.

And she still,

Catch's my eye.

What brought this piece about is she is modest and has alway said she did not want to dress a certain way which she felt would cause men to look and be lured. One day she used the word again and I realized no matter what she wore, I was lured every time. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Yes... I have known people that I loved even in a snow suit zipped to the bottom of the nose...when you love someone, it doesn't matter what they wear...they are still alluring

Willard, I hope she reads your poetry. I could write for days on the stress that society puts on women as we age. Really are we all supposed to look like Cindy Crawford at age 50 or Cheryl Tiegs who at 67 barely looks 50? Its beyond ridiculous, and as long as we are still beloved by our significant others and happy, who needs the pressure. Sometimes just the reassurance that your man would rather be looking your way than at anyone else, is more than enough to make all the rest seem unimportant.

This could turn into a rant, but I'm going to stop with the words that I am happy for both of you that she does. Just make sure you tell her as often as you tell us.

Due to our cultural differences I actually tell her more than she wants to hear as it appears to embarrass her and due to a culture that for century had arranged marriages. Love is a word she has trouble with. But her actions show what she fails to be able to speak. An I am comfortable with that after some soul searching.

She may be uncomfortable with it verbally, but leave her little notes to read alone. It's probably more that she does not know what reaction you are looking for and has trouble expressing that, but I'm sure it means the world to her that you feel that way. Even in an arrange marriage, a woman hopes to find happiness and a husband who will adore her.

I should add one more thing. How could I not have mentioned that yes Starbucks. I was offered a meeting at Starbucks for a less call it blind coffee, which it was just a posturing type meeting. And that was the first time I met her and she had hot cocoa. And my heart forever.
