Good thought, Willard Wells. I never thought of addiction as a search for normalcy because of our dopamine levels before. i am a recovering alcoholic, with 10 years of sobriety, and your words have me looking back at my drinking days. I never reached "normalcy" as an active drinker, but I think it's what I wanted. I am still not "normal" but who in the heck is?! Good writing. Keep it up, please.

One drag off a cig and in 8 seconds there is a dopamine release. I don't smoke and never have, but I am always looking for the safe controlled release to keep me level. Or at least my level which like normal is a moving target. Thanks for the read.
Williard, I am liking your poems here this morning. I would have to say that I am a 'normal' 65 wasp retired middle class American male. No Illegal vices, No legal vices, no hang up except a lover of Royal Crown Cola and I am having to give that up because of sugar content. I do not have a clue about dopamine. Thank you for reviewing my words.

Photography and words are my activities to try and keep an over active mind under control. For the most part my pieces have been short since that's how I'm wired. I would like to write something longe.. more..
