As one passes from death to new life, we are left with the tears of death. We seek answers as we seek to understand the plan of Almighty God in all things of life and death!
A loved one's spirit takes flight as their body dies.
We are overwhelmed by deep, sorrowful cries.
Tears of sadness cascade like falling rain,
Accentuating death's sting of searing pain!
Memories remain of a loved one's life sweet,
Grasped tightly in death's bitter hand of defeat.
A veil of darkness we don as a shroud.
Lamentations rise 'midst a mournful cloud.
Ears turn to winds to hear a familiar voice.
We plead "Would you return if given a choice?”
And "Why are you apart from me,
Leaving me alone to experience misery?"
Our hearts desire they remain with us yet.
We think of missed opportunities, desires unmet.
We yearn to reach out to grasp their hand,
And draw their spirit back into the "Living Land".
We wail, "O where, where have you gone,
Your absence causes me to live now alone.
Do you dwell on the far side of a midnight sky,
Are you aware of my mournful cry?"
All spirits will pass as their time draws nigh,
Some a slow death, and able to bid us goodbye.
Others cross quickly as they bid farewell,
Leaving us many sentiments yet to tell.
We, now left behind, must carry on each day.
Let us cope by lifting our voices to Heaven to pray.
Aware that our God has fulfilled His plan,
As He closes the gap their life did span.
Hallelujah!
Drown not in a sea of sorrow.
Hold onto hope of a waiting tomorrow.
Embrace promises of what is to be.
Heal heart and spirit with liberty.
Welcome victory of tears over death!

Oh dear sheila you said it so well, and I mourn with you. We are never ready, don't forget about the victory over pain, with our tears we have to rejoice, they made it. We are Alf empty, split and left, I can understand so much better the expression of my better Alf. Of course after 12 years I don't have the raw pain of grief, I'm left with the memory of it. We learn to live without them by our side, go to the grocery store and stop looking for their favorite food. Only time will help, like my first poem written only 3 months ago A Small Whisper, I was laying in bed grieving and heard the whisper "Time" in my right ear. I'm sharing your pain Sheila, A big bear hug and my shoulder, vent any time. God Bless.
In friendship......Annie
Death a sad but bitter thing to have to deal with, but this poem says it all. Victory over death is knowing that you will be reunited in the end and that their passing isn't an ending for your life its another new beginning to endure. Fantastic write.
First and foremost, I like how you always put pictures for your poems. Death is a sad and hard thing to overcome, and it takes a strong person to move on in life. Victory of tears over death is such a clear, and true poem. I really liked it! People need to realize that death is sad but you have to move on and enjoy life. Best of Luck!

Awww this is a great piece. I am no longer afraid of death at all. Ive seen many loved ones pass away so soon. One was murdered by her husband. I shed no tears for anyone old who has passed. we are all meant to die. some of us soon some of us later. This is a great piece of that understanding. it was cathartic to read. thanks :D
Absolutely beautiful! Precious victory over death! I just happened to glance at an obituary that said, "Paul entered the presence of His Lord....." What a differnce death is for the believer! It's a comma, not a period. Only a brief time of seperation......then you will be reunited with your beloved forever and ever!
I marvel in your spirit and heart and rejoice in your faith that you so eloquently display... we must not think of death as the end but the beginning of a loved ones new life and remember God has called on them which is the highest honor... and they never truly leaves for they are always in our heart.
This is so beautiful, sad and so much part of life. You captured this with grace and elequence. My favorite stanza...
We plead, "O where, where have you gone,
Your absence causes me to sing a lonely song.
Do you dwell on the far side of a midnight sky,
Are you aware of my mournful cry?"
This was very moving for me. My heart goes out to you Sheila. A great big hug I am sending you!!!!
When with God...how could we ever be so selfish as to want them back for ourselves..I have many to look forward to seeing with my Lord in Heaven..They will know us and we will know them..No more illness, no more tears, only joy aand laughter ..eyes that were blind will see, ears that could not hear will be opened.Bodies that were cripled will be made whole..How can we feel that these we love would be better off back on this earth with us they way it is today..I loved your write and how you expressed each feeling in your words;;God bless..Valentine
In your wonderful unique fashion, you have turned even your grief into something of beauty and hope. I do believe tears bring victory as they wash away layers of pain and sad memories, until eventually only the pleasant ones remain. Thank you for sharing from your heart with us....I know there are many who will glean comfort from this write.
Shelia, your passion paints like perfection and this poem picks up the readers heart in the hands of
imagination and tosses it into the sky where our thoughts float like the word clouds you gracefully render
from the depths of the beautiful soul. this is powerful, defining an abandoning misery, wow
