My Spirit Sighs

Heavenly Father, I plead as I pray to you,
Help me understand those who see not Your view.
I am not one who turns away from troubles of a day--
Those who know me well understand it's not my way.

I hurt for those ridiculed, often stripped of pride.
Suffering and pain torments me, rips me apart inside.
Lamentations felt for hearts that grieve without mirth,
Wretched souls cast aside, labeled unfit at birth.

Lord, allow me to hear those who have not a voice--
Mankind’s labeled as unworthy, denied a life choice.
Open my eyes wide to see brothers existing in poverty.
Allow me to hear pained calls as they cry out to Thee.

Father, help me fulfill the message of salvation told.
With Your love, let me bring those lost into the fold.
I beg You, please urge me to walk to, and not by,
As hurting souls hold hands wet with tears they cry.

Father, please hear these humble words from my heart,
As I kneel before you with their petitions to impart.
Cleanse my spirit as I confess now to my transgression
Refine me in your fire to redress the dire plight of men.
Amen

Amen my friend... a very heart warming prayer but sometimes God can't do all that for us, I believe he wants you to find the strength and courage to do yourself so you can find the inner worth that helps your wings grow. But prayers certainly help and let's God know you do know you have plenty to work on and are willing to do so.

This is so beautiful. I, too, feel a heart that is heavily burdened for those who have been dealt the roughest of hands in life. Sometimes that has been me but I am still full of compassion for others. For you to be able to write about caring about humanity like that....well, you must be some kind of human being. This poem made me feel that we are kindred spirits. I feel this exact same way. Really. Thank you for putting into words what I never thought about putting into words.
