BONDS OF FRIENDSHIP

There have been many times that I'd lose grip and fall,
And you were ever beside me to help me rise above it all.
There have been many times when I'd reach the end of end,
And you inspired me by giving hope to start over again.
YOU INSPIRED ME!

There have been other times when I’d lost the fruit of gain,
And you brought me bright sunshine to send away the rain.
There have been many times that I'd quit and just give up,
And you'd bring me a drink of renewal from friendship's cup.
YOU WERE SUNSHINE!

There were times that I’d been slipping and sinking too fast,
You encouraged me to reach out to grasp hold of hope to last.
As I was spinning in frantic circles of chaos, round and round,
You threw out the anchor that placed me back on solid ground!
YOU RENEWED HOPE!

The bond of friendship I have with you is one richly blessed,
As it is one surviving and passing every friendship test.
You and I've remained friends in good times as well as bad.
Your pledge of loyalty as a friend is the truest I’ve ever had!
OUR FRIENDSHIP IS BLESSED!

The commitment of "togetherness" we’ve had all these years,
Shall continue to build as we move onward past life's tears,
And as we reach the point in our lives called "The Golden Age",
I'll look back and say thank you for you are my friend and sage!
OUR FRIENDSHIP WILL LAST!

I have such a friend...and I am going to share this poem with her, Sheila. There is nothing like sharing a history with a friend. When you have been through thick and thin with a person and you know you can sit with them quietly or sit with them bubbling over with news just as easily, you have a forever friend. Wonderfully said. Lydi**

Brilliant tribute to friendship Sheila, reminds me of sweet friend Dina, we grew up together and we were best of friends until she passed away..... I wish she was still here so I could share this with her. Thanks for sharing this lovely homage.

Thanks Sheila, you're a dear...she was much too young. Enjoyed, have a sweet day!
A truly touching ode, which does read very much like a traditional Romantic ode with its form...through the course of our lives, if we are fortunate enough, we will cross paths with maybe one of two people that just seem to make us better...this is the vibe I took from this piece...the way you evoke the trials of life, and the need of a friend to steer us right sometimes, is totally vivid and gripping...your imagery and rhymes you nailed with great precision...I would have this in my library if not for the site and its endless glitches...lovely work Ms. Lady Of Friendship Love :)

A fine homage to the importance of knowing someone close by on whom we can trust and confide in, through troubled waters!

Splendidly penned Sheila!

oh to feel this bond...i understand this...i have some friendships so deep, they have lasted for 40 some years, some even more than that...and yet they sustain.

the give and take, the being there for each other...
