A tribute to those who give of "SELF" to help their fellow man. They are true volunteers of the heart!!

A CLOAK OF CHARITY

 

 

CHARITY has varied traits within its seven letters-

Compassion, self-sacrifice, a commitment to others.

Persons who wear it as a garment draped across their back

Are kind ones who care for others while selfishness they lack.

 

 

Those with the word CHARITY written on their cloak of souls,

Meet necessities of mankind while forgetting self-goals.

They work tirelessly, often putting their desires on hold,

And give help, expecting not payments of silver or gold.

 

 

Too many are those who flaunt the word “Selfish” on their sleeve.

They’d rather look the other way and refuse to perceive.

Not often found are those who agree to pay this high price.

I’ve encountered too few who gift a selfless sacrifice.

 

 

 I extend words of appreciation--a huge thank you.

These caring people who’ve crossed my path--worthy praise’s due!

You’ve been recognized by virtue of your selfless deeds,

Giving up your desires to provide for poor spirit’s needs.

 

 

The intent of this poem is to honor those you know

who are charitable.  Please do not wait to tell them so.

They’re valuable and treasured, like calm after the storm.

Jewels they are--worth proven by selfless acts they perform!

 

Written as a tribute to all who give of self to help their fellow man!

A wonderful write. I continue to see the golden center of your soul and the ever increasing sparkle in your writing. Your writing grows with every write. I can see the care you put into each piece. I see your sweeping emotion, so grand, but then I see that you are holding this up for inspection, turning it over in your hand, thinking, crafting, and then slowly, carefully, consciously putting down thought on paper. Thank you. Too much attention cannot be directed toward this subject. Our mortal lives are but a blink of an eyelid in comparison to eternity, and a giving spirit is sure to be worth something on the other side. Even if that wasn't a consideration, I'd still give to those less fortunate than I because my heart would not let me walk by on the other side.

True and nicely written..for me..God seems to lay it on my heart and after a few hours, I know it is Him telling me to help or take food to the neighbor in a wheelchair etc..If we listen..we can feela nd hear when He talks to us..Kathie

Well, it is a bit odd for you to think of Mother Theresa but then we have heard so much about her and her life time of charitable work with the most impoverished of people!!

I agree with the poem. I know many people who donated their time feeding and helping the poor for 40 years. They never ask for a award. I believe good people who give without the desire of reward are the real angels upon this planet. Thank you for the beautiful and hopeful poem. Also the good music.

Indeed there are few who have this noble attribute...and those who do for others must be cherished and valued. This poem on selfless acts of humanity brings to mind the image of Mother Teresa, the most noble of them all.

Mother Teresa was truly a person who gave to others from her heart in a way that almost everyone must know of!! I have had the pleasure of being with volunteers in some of my employment and they touch me in a way that inspired this write!
