May we be forever thankful for the service and sacrifices of our military - both past, present, and future!

Thankful Are We For Our Military!
May we enter into the gates of liberty with cheers of Thanksgiving!
Grateful are we for each man and woman whose service has kept us free.
Bow now our heads to offer thanks for past, present, and future military.
Great is their gift to you and me for securing an enduring home of liberty.
Their valiant service over the centuries lit and kept burning freedom’s light.
They overcame fearsome of enemies through long battles of day and night.
Victory was won with a spirit of “I am ever ready to endure war’s plight”.
Long have been the days of conflict and war:
As colonies fought for release from the tyranny of Britain,
Militia Men marched ever onward against bright Coats of Red.
Fields of battle were too often heavily laden with the dead.
The United States emerged a free and united country!
Fort McHenry at Baltimore was attacked in The War of 1812.
When The British invaded, attempting to rob us of our liberty,
“The Star Spangled Banner” was written by Francis Scott Key.
Our National Anthem proudly proclaims our freedom!
As Northern Yankees met Southern Rebels during The Civil War,
It mattered not whether they wore a uniform of blue or grey.
They allowed not cowardice to get in the way.
Two ways of life ultimately led to a brotherhood of one!
As time marched on, so have grievous threats to our freedom.
Alas! Wars have raged and countless lives have been lost.
To this day, our military has stood firm at great cost.
Let us be thankful they have continued to secure victory!
Yes, it is true- A tremendous debt is owed our brave fighters.
Their sacrifice has allowed us to see light of another day.
Let us ever be grateful with freedom cries of Hooray.
Of their heroism, may we words of Thanksgiving sing!
Salute them
Praise them
Pray for them
Love them
Thank them
Respect them
Honor them
Bless them
Remember them
They are pillars of freedom, each a hero of yesterday and today!

In the immortal words of Ronald Reagan – 40th United States President (1911 – 2004):
‘Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.’

A rousing, honourable tribute!
You have penned an eloquent poem Sheila, that tells of the fortitude and heroism of all military service men who defend and protect our liberty from those who have or perish the thought, may still desire to take it from us !!
