Temptation

Temptation

A Poem by ws1564

Staring at my watch day after day
Lost in nostalgia as time trickles away
The hands move but my life stands still

Each tick another dream I will not fulfill

The tree outside my window locked in my stare
The walls of my prison cell fittingly bare

As are the branches of the weary autumn tree
Who is waiting to flourish, just like me

Some breeze through life with no regard

No understanding of when it can get hard

I tripped up just once, had one bad day
Now here I am and for my sin I must pay

Even with a heart of gold and soul that is pure
A man will succumb to Satan's foul lure

Here I sit and stare and pray for redemption
The price to pay for a moments temptation
