The DarknessA Poem by wrldbrkrMy second attempt at a poem. This was the next one I was challenged to take a shot at after my first poem. The instruction I got was to "Delve deeper into the pit of my being."The darkness came for me It desired a feast I ran as fast as I could Trying desperately to stay ahead of the beast
The darkness overtook me In the end it wasn’t very hard For I didn’t fear the darkness I held it in little regard
The darkness made an offer One I had longed for An offer of great power That is what I wanted and nothing more
I didn’t want money, Nor love, nor fame I just wanted them all to tremble At the mere mention of my name
I accepted the offer From the darkness of great power It set to its task My soul it began to devour
The world dimming Before my eyes The last part of my humanity Slowly dies
Why do we fear the darkness It offers power to all We should not fear the darkness However, we should regard it with awe.
The darkness isn’t for all Some are just too pure If you encounter the darkness You had best be sure
That you want what it offers For the price is tremendous But if you refuse the power Please don’t be envious © 2013 wrldbrkrAuthor's Note
