Hero

Hero

A Poem by Hannah Ellsworth

I hate myself for what I cannot be.
All I ever wanted
Was to be your hero.

But paving paths in the woods
Is difficult when you're the first
To walk them

What I'd give to be more
Than this sad clown
With a painted smile,
Melting in the rain.

Absolutely stunning. Your poem begins simply and becomes more visually dense as you go. Brilliant expression too. The last stanza is quite the catch!

With a painted smile,
Melting in the rain...loved the visuals of these lines! Well done Hannah!!

I love the imagery in this poem and the emotion it provokes.
