Pandora's Box

Pandora's Box

A Poem by Hannah Ellsworth

I ignored the warning,
Opened my heart too early.
Unleashed chaos.

Now all that remains is this feeble hope
in the bottom of a heart
left hanging open,
door swinging on broken hinges.

But you can take this
little piece of hope
with you;

it's all I have left to give.

great imagery, "left hanging open" so lonely and vulnerable - and the structure works well, too.
