Treasure Trove

Treasure Trove

A Poem by Hannah Ellsworth
"

This one isn't as good as soe of the others I've posted... I wrote it in a notebook at a festival last week while promoting my latest book and wanted to put up all the poems I wrote during that time.

"

Funny how the village

never saw the treasure trove

until the king built walls around it.

And isn't it odd

we never wandered the hills

for gold

until we heard the legends

of dragons

and their keeps.

And did the sea

ever hold us in fear

and wonder

until the pirates sailed it?

Perhaps fear

is the marvelous treasure

we're looking for.
