Deserved Desolation

Deserved Desolation

A Poem by Christina Kruchesky

Gouge mine eyes from their sockets.
Let me become enslaved to the perpetual darkness of my shame.
Exile me, my dear brothers and sisters whom I have betrayed and disappointed,
So that I, alone, shall hear my deserved cries of pain.
Let the blood of which a thousand seas could not wash away,
Trickle down the miles of flesh that stretches across my face.
Showing every drop of mine own sin in its crimson color.
Soaking every fiber of these clothes,
Of which I have wrongfully disgraced.
Pity me not as i kneel before you,
Crippled by the very fabric of my being.
For no pity shall I receive at the golden throne.
God, himself, know not of my existence.
No angels for which to sing,
Their song of my salvation.
The sun, which once beamed down upon my head,
Now turns its back to me.
Chilling my cold heart.
Slowing every beat that brings me closer
To the moment that I cease to be.
