The Swan of Notre Dame

The Swan of Notre Dame

A Poem by thewritingthespian

In the midst of grave despair
Lives a peaceful graceful swan
giving solace to her people
On the steps of Notre Dame

Will the demons try to kill her?
they will try, they will dare
but the saints will show no mercy
condemning them to their lair

A lair that breathes and heaves fire
as far as the eye can see
no swans can fly around here
where sinners grovel on their knees

she chimes the bells, how grand they sound!
she whispers into countless souls
the words of love, beauty, and of grace
inscribed in ancient sacred scrolls

Sitting on her throne she speaks
"You can also be a swan,
come and see me, do not wait!"
says the swan of Notre Dame
