The Final LamentA Poem by thewritingthespianA woman grieves over the effects of war and tragedy. The Final
Lament
Beside the
sea a woman lies
Her heart
will grieve forever more
Her spirit
hears the silent cries
Where
death was brought to war
She shuts
her eyes in hopes of dreams
“Lord,
show me the way!”
She hears
no answers, only screams
“Lord, I
beg you, I pray!”
She casts
her eyes upon the waves
“They all
have perished and so must I”
She stares
among the countless graves
Underneath
the dark night sky
“Shall I
stay, shall I go?
Shall I
join the perished souls?
In the sea
down below
Will I see
the martyred ghouls?”
“My sweet
child, do not fret
I will
guide you to the skies
We will
fly among the heavens and yet,
There my
golden palace lies”
“Shall you
stay, Shall you go?
Will you
perish, as did Rome?
Do not squander to and fro
Follow me
to our way home!”
