Chapter 1

Melody walks gets off the bus in the morning before school and heads to the band hall to put her lunch in her locker. As she does so, her best friend Katherine walks by. "Hi," Katherine says. Melody responds, "Hey Kat, are we still going dress shopping for the banquet?"

"Yeah, after school, correct?"

"Yeah."

"Cool, see you during band then we can head out."

"Sounds like a plan," said Melody.

After Kat leaves, Melody starts to retrieve her textbooks from the same locker she put her lunch in and her best friend Ashton scares her by grabbing her from behind hugging her.

"Hey," Ashton said while laughing.

"You know for a fact I don't like it when you do that," Melody tries saying angrily. Melody has had a huge crush on Ashton since Marching season. Before they were best friends, Melody had told Ashton how she felt. Sadly, he didn't feel the same way yet, they have been best friends since then.

"Are you going to the banquet next week?"

"Yeah," Melody replies, "Kat and I are going dress shopping today after band."

"Cool, I've got to head to class, don't forget about tomorrow."

"What's tomorrow again," Melody jokes.

"Our weekly lunch," Ashton says laughing. He knew that she was joking with him. They start to head out of the band hall and to their respective classes.
