This World

This World

A Poem by Amanda Worthington

There are times I swear
this world is trying to kill me.
To test my patience.
To test my strength.
To test my mind.
So go ahead,
place a hundred pounds on my shoulders!
It's just a hundred pounds more.

Sometimes it feels like I'm falling.
Like I'm failing.
Like I'm giving up.
It feels like I'm breaking.
So go ahead and push me!
See how much more I can take.

Why am i doing this?
What is this Hell i am putting myself through?
Why must I dread each day if life?
Why must I hide my face when I walk through the halls?

This world is trying to kill me,
put all the weight on me,
break my mind,
break my patience.
Go ahead!
I'm done trying.

This world is killing me.

Amanda Worthington
I'm going through a little bit of a hard time right now, family and school related..... I wrote this in a fit of despair at night. Tell my what you think. Just like always, helpful criticism is always appreciated.

Your words echo my own thoughts. Yes, it does seem like this world is trying to kill anyone with the courage to retain their feelings and sensitivity. But it won't ever get you, because you compose, you create, you exist and you have words that will be known.

About
Why do I write? Because I want my opinions and my thoughts to be known. I want to make other people feel what I do. I love it when it's just me and my characters, late at night with no one to interrup.. more..
