Softly Snowing

Softly Snowing

A Poem by Michael J. Richards

Snow falls gently--oh, so softly, on
blood upon a green-ed ground.
Hiding shades of dark'ning sorrow--
Making not a single sound.

The pieces scattered on the grass--
Like peddler's o'er turned cart--
All dead and broken--none still moving;
All lack a beating heart.

One last fleeting glance revealing
fractured dreams--nothing more.
'till the solace of the everlasting
Death, knocking at the battered door.

Snow drifts softly--oh, so gently,
covering footsteps tracked in lore.
Snow so softly--falling down,
will Death's ease be found once more?

The delicate placing of these words mimics the soft falling of snow perfectly. The only part of this poem that had a questionable rhythm was the last line- I feel like less syllables would read easier.

Wow, surprised by this one, favorite of what I read from you so far. Nice work, has a good sound, professional/older/throw back kinda.
