I knew you were too good to be true

I knew you were too good to be true

A Poem by Brittany weddle
"

For a childhood friend.

"
From the very beginning, you shined brighter then a diamond in a coal mine.
Walked my way, "said let's go." Thought I hit the jackpot when it came to friends,
show's you just what I knew.
Should have known what you would do.
[Chores]
I should have known you were too good be true.
Like diamonds on the souls of your shoes. Like
money falling out of the blue. I was fooled.
You aint nothing but too good to be real. I shouldn't have
believed the way you made me feel. You broke my pretty heart in two. Momma
tried to warn bout friend like you... she knew you were too good to be true.

Before I knew it I we unwound, fell down like a cannon ball straight down.
Everybody all over this town said they saw it coming, so why didn't?  You lied, lied lied
like a  politician. Should have read the headlines, paid more attention
to my suspicions, my intuition.
Why didn't I listen?
[Chores]
I knew you were too good to be true.
Like diamonds on the souls of your shoes.
Like money falling out of the blue.
I'm not fooled.
You aint nothing but too good to be real. I don't
believe the way you made me feel.
You broke my pretty heart in two.
Momma always told me about friends about you.
I knew you were too good to be true.

I should have seen it from a mile away.
Called you out for you were.
Now I know that you're...

Too good to be true.
Like diamonds on the souls of your shoes.
Like money falling out of the blue
I'll never be fooled again.
You aint nothing but too good to be real.
I'll never believe that's the way you made me feel.
You'll never break my pretty heart in two again.
Now I believe when Momma told me about friends like you.
I know you're too good to be true.

You're just too good to be true.
