Sickly

Sickly

A Poem by Steffi

Sickly

The fever rages, palms so clammy,

Head pounds as the blood simmers

An achy body sends you staggering for comfort

the draped afghan a soothing release as the body trembles,

the chills finally set in.

Coughs so raw, shredding the lungs.

Nose, a rampant river of pollution,

Thoughts so addled, so dazed!

Stranded on a paisley cushioned futons

Lost in the sea of moistened tissue.

Comfort rations, required...desired.

As broth is absorbed

the creamy heat slithers down into the body
Whines stammer from the mouth

Begging for stamina, longing for health.

What a fantastic description.....I am totally sick now because this was so descriptive I feel that I've been exposed...LOL. Brillant and fun read.
