Writers Folly

A Poem by Steffi

Writers Folly

The words that flow

Splatter the pages like paint

Caressing the sheet like a fine silk

Drawing out my personage

Drowning my fever

The words that sour

Lick the putrescent wound

Casting me into everlasting fire

The calligraphy I created on paper

Now the hellion that burdens my name

The words that lay waste

Sidesweep the solidity of that vital spark

Causing the distress, the calamity, the plight

To bristle around my leery steps

A reckless abandon, to a forgotten hope
