Revelation

Revelation

A Poem by Alan B.

See yonder creature on his climb
Pathetic in aspect but with mind
To know of himself.

He knows not whence he comes
Only vague allusion and sense
He climbs in rage and sick
To shake his fist and demand the gods:
Reveal to me the metaphysic!

He may sit unto the end of life
Hearing nothing but bitter wind
On which a whisper may at times flow
Alighting to suppurate and fester
Leading only to his question:
Is it anything I can know?
